I am an expert on AI’s impact on higher education, at least in certain ways. AI first impacted my classroom in 2023 and I PANICKED (see my “Mosaic Approach” video for more on this). But over the next year I adjusted pedagogically and found an approach that works for me. At the same time, I started diving into the research literature around AI in education and even started my own AI reading group that still meets and bickers regularly! Investing this time in the reading club, along with holding a variety of roles in higher ed, has given me a broad base of knowledge when it comes to AI’s impact on higher education.
Since 2024 I’ve given talks and trainings both locally and online. These talks have been about AI’s impact on education in one way or another, and all of them have been aimed at empowering faculty to deal with the reality we’re in. Some of those talks are found below!
If you’re interested in having me give a talk for your organization/faculty, reach out!
I’ve given a variety of talks but currently I’m giving talks that hit on three main topics:
Designing and Implementing your Classroom AI Policy
This talk is the most practical, where I begin by discussing the difficulty of creating a perfect policy and instead guide faculty towards creating something clear and enforceable. Attendees will leave the session with the beginnings of a draft of a policy they could try out in their class immediately! RECORDING COMING SOON!
The most cited thing I’ve made (and maybe even why you’re here) is my AI Disclosure Form. Take a look or download it here and feel free to use/adapt it. I hope it helps your course!
